The simple strategy includes to skim the text in order to get an overview of the passage, therefore, identifying the rhetorical situation and it becomes easy for a student to answer the given question.


Contextualization
When you read a paragraph, you read it through the lens of your own occurrence. A students understanding of the words in the paragraph and their significance is informed by what you have come to know and what would be a student’s comfort zone to answer the questions given for that passage. But the texts you read were all written in the past, sometimes in a radically different time and place.

Groping Your Delicate Responses
Reading might dare your attitudes, your unconsciously held beliefs, or your positions on current issues. As you read a text for the first time, mark an X in the margin at each point where you feel a personal challenge to your attitudes, beliefs, or status. Make a brief note in the margin if the line seems to be too important. Now look again at the places you marked in the text where you felt personally challenged. What patterns do you see?
