TOEFL
iBT, Test of English as Foreign Language, is a well know English language
proficiency exam for USA, it is also recognized in Canada and some other
countries. TOEFL comes under two category paper based and internet based but
internet based is quite easy and common.
Like other
English exams this also has four modules Reading, Listening, Speaking and
Writing, however, modules are same but content and exam pattern is quite
different than others.
Reading modules has minimum 3 passages
but sometimes candidate can also face 5 passages, but none of them is going to
be scored only 3 passages are going to be scored and 2 of them is experimental.
But we
don’t know which one is going to be the experimental one and which one not.
Every passage has 15 different types of questions which you have to attempt and
all of them need a unique technique to attempt them.
Listening
none like other exams in this you’ll get listening, each part carrying the
combination of conversation, discussion and lecture. You’ll get 5 questions on
conversations, 6-6 questions on lecture and discussion respectively. All the
listening will played first and once and then you’ll get questions on them.
Moreover, if we talk about writing
like others this test also has two tasks, integrated and independent.
Integrated task is a combination of listening and reading, on the basis of that
you have to write down the appropriate summary. In this task you must focus on
many points which should be in both listening and reading.
On the
other hand independent task is all about to write down an article on a given
topic. Writing a essay need a specific skills and ability to think, so that
aspirant can discus his/her idea in a manner which is understandable by checker
and leave the great impression on them.
Last but not least, speaking module which has
6 questions all together in which 2 are independent questions, 2 are
conversational based and 2 are discussion based. Again in conversation and
discussion, one from both of them is integrated means first you’ll get one
reading and then listening.
