IELTS Listening Exam Pattern

IELTS Listening Module

There are handful of students who might be finding difficulty while writing listening answers or they are not able to understand the language or may be the accent so here are some useful tips and techniques to overcome this problem and score 9 bands in this module.

Listening pattern:

  • Total questions: 40
  • Total sections: 4
  • One section: nearly 10-13 questions (but overall it is 40)
  • Track length: nearly 30 minutes
  • Transfer Time: 10 minutes
  • Note: Two sections are monologue and two sections are conversation

Technique:

  • Read instructions and questions carefully
  • Understand questions ( can translate in your own language)
  •  Listen to the track carefully and write down answers as you listen
Tips:
  • When you listen to let’s say  “read questions 1 to 5”  then read it
  • Then you listen “check your answers “, do not check, rather read next questions. Of course, when you are not listening to anything then how you can check your answers.
  • Don’t be too quick to write answers especially in MCQ’s
  • Be careful while listening to some alphabets like A, E, J, G, M, N…
  • Don’t panic if you skip any of the questions, just listen to the track and you can recall it later when you get 10 minutes transfer time.

Just to clear this question first of all I would like to say that it all depends upon the candidate’s choice which exam he/she prefer, but it is also very important to know about both the exam what they are and what are patterns of that exam. However, there are many benefits of PTE ( Pearson Tests of English ) on other exams are like, Firstly it is computer based exam - All the modules are on the computer specifically the person who are good at writing and familiar with the computer it is easy for them and also for the candidates who’s handwriting is very bad and also for the them who feel hesitation when they speak in front of others.   Secondly, the result is pretty fast because it is checked by computer -  Candidates who are in hurry to know their results and want to fill the further papers, usually go for PTE because you can have your result withi...
