Tips and Strategies for Divisibility Rules

Most of the students appearing for different Competitive Exams, find Quantitative Module the most difficult; as they have to solve the sums even if they hate Mathematics. It is a very tough job for them to maintain the timings and speed for solving the questions. Sometimes, candidates just concentrate towards the solving of quantitative part only and because of that they cannot be able to solve the whole paper on time and so they are unable to crack the competitive exam.

Here are some tips for the preparation of the Divisibility rules up to 30 in Quantitative Aptitude: -

Divisibility Rules: - How to check if the number is

Divisible by 2 – If a number ends with 0, 2, 4, 6 and 8

Divisible by 3 – If the sum of all the digits of a number is divisible by 3

Divisible by 4 – If the last two digits of the number are divisible by 4

Divisible by 5 – If the number ends with 0 or 5

Divisible by 6 – If the number is divisible by 2 and 3

Divisible by 7 – If the difference between twice the unit place digit and the number formed by other digits is either 0 or divisible by 7

Divisible by 8 – If the last three digits are divisible by 8

Divisible by 9 – If the sum of all the digits is divisible by 9

Divisible by 10 – If the number ends with 0

Divisible by 11 – If sum of all the digits at odd places is subtracted from the sum of the digits at even places = 0 of a multiple of 11

Divisible by 12 – If the number is divisible by 3 and 4

Divisible by 13 - Add four times the last digit to the remaining number and check if it is divisible by 13.
Apply this rule over and over again if the number is large.

Divisible by 14 – If the number is divisible by 2 and 7

Divisible by 15 – If the number is divisible by 3 and 5

Divisible by 16 – If the number is divisible by 2 and 8

Divisible by 17 – If the difference between five times the digit at a unit place and the remaining number is divisible by 17.
Apply this rule over and over again if the number is large.

Divisible by 18 – If the number is divisible by 2 and 9

Divisible by 19 – If the addition of two times the digit at a unit place and the rest of the number are divisible by 19.
Apply this rule over and over again if the number is large.

Divisible by 20 – Multiple of 2 and ends with 0

Divisible by 21 – If the number is divisible by 3 and 7

Divisible by 22 – If the number is divisible by 2 and 11

Divisible by 23 – If the addition of seven times the unit digit and the rest of the number is divisible by 23.
Apply this rule over and over again if the number is large.

Divisible by 24 – If the number if divisible by 3 and 8

Divisible by 25 – If the last two digits is divisible by 25

Divisible by 26 – If the number is divisible by 2 and 13

Divisible by 27 – If the sum of the digits is divisible by 27

Divisible by 28 – If the number is divisible by 2 and 14

Divisible by 29 – If the addition of three times the digit at a unit place and the rest of the number are divisible by 29.
Apply this rule over and over again if the number is large.

Divisible by 30 – If the number is divisible by 3 and 10
