OET- NOW OPENS NEW DOORS FOR NURSES!!!

In the month of February this year, OET signed inaugural agreements with the Dubai Healthcare City Authority (DHCA) and the Dubai Government’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA). This merger gives professionals in the Healthcare industry to improve their career opportunities in the UAE. This makes Dubai the first state in the UAE to accept OET as a proof of English proficiency for Healthcare professionals.

Dubai Healthcare City Authority is the world’s largest zone of healthcare and is regulated by the Dubai Healthcare City Authority- Regulatory, which is an independent regulatory arm and whose quality standards are accredited by the International Society for Quality in Healthcare (ISQua). DHCA happens to be the first health authority to recognize OET as a proof of English proficiency for those professionals who have had their professional education in languages other than English. According to the CEO of Dubai Healthcare City Authority- Regulatory, Dr Ramadan AlBlooshi, “With an increasing number of patients from across nationalities receiving treatment within Dubai Healthcare City, the regulatory body has stressed the importance for healthcare professionals to be proficient in English to communicate effectively and ensure a high standard of care and safety.” He went on to add, “We are continuously working to develop policies which will enhance our patient-doctor relationships and ensure quality healthcare services. In this context, OET is an important tool as the language test is tailored for healthcare professionals. All healthcare graduates who have not been educated in English will need to obtain Grade C in OET to apply to work in Dubai Healthcare City.”

Since OET assess language skills thorough four different modules, namely, reading, writing, speaking and listening, it ensures that healthcare professionals who pass this test will meet the proficiency level in English required at workplace.
