IELTS OR TOEFL
IELTS:
It stands for International English Language Testing System
conducted by IDP and BC which is paper based test where students use pencils,
eraser and sharpener. This exam is acceptable in all English speaking countries
Four modules are included in this exam, Reading, Listening,
Speaking and Writing. Speaking is conducted separate day which may be before
the Reading, Listening and writing exam or after this exam.
- Reading- 60 minutes ( 40 questions)
- Listening- nearly 30 minutes (40 questions) + 10 minutes transfer time
- Writing – Task 1 (20 minutes) and Task 2 (40 minutes)
- Speaking- 3 rounds (Introduction round, Q- card round and Follow ups round)
- Scores- Each 9 bands and overall 9 bands.
TOEFL:
It stands for Test of English as a foreign Language which is
computer based test and this exam is considered a bit tougher than IELTS. This
exam is acceptable in English speaking countries. Like IELTS exam it also has
four modules.
- Reading- 60 - 80 minutes ( 39-52 questions)
- Listening- 60- 90 minutes (34-51 questions)
- Writing- Integrated Task (20 Minutes) and Independent Task (30 minutes)
- Speaking- 6 questions (20 minutes)
- Scores- Each 30 scores and overall 30 scores
NOTE: Students
are requested to choose that exam which is acceptable in their desired college
or university as there are some colleges which accept IELTS exam while others
demand TOEFL scores
