TOEFL stands for Test of English as a Foreign Language.  Unlike IELTS exam, this exam is total of 120 scores not in bands which is further converted into bands.  There are four modules included in this exam that is Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing. Each module is of 30 scores. 


Reading :- This module is of 60 to 80 minutes and total 36 to 56 questions are asked in this exam. There are various types of questions divided into three to four long passages which are multiple choice questions. The student has to choose one option out of four options.
Listening :- This module is of 60 to 90 minutes, with 34 to 51 questions. In this module, there are lectures, discussions, conversations on the basis of which the student answers multiple choice questions. Each time the questions appear on the screen is preceded by part of the track and on the basis of that track the question is asked.



Speaking:- This module is of 20 minutes and total 6 questions are asked. First two questions are independent questions where student gets 15 seconds to prepare the answer and 45 seconds for speaking. One minute time is allotted for the speaking of remaining four questions. 

Writing :- This module has integrated task (20 minutes) and independent task (30 minutes) both of  which are essay type questions. In integrated essay the student will first read a passage for three minutes and then listens to a track related to it which is either contradictory or is just strengthening the points  of reading, so the student writes according to what he has read and what he has listened. In Independent Essay writing, only one general topic is given on which student  writes an essay.
