Adverbs of Frequency Rules
These simple rules for adverbs of frequency will help you to use them correctly:
· Adverbs of frequency are always used to discuss how often something is happened.
· They are often used to describe routine or repetitive activities, so are used with the present indefinite tense.
· Place the adverb of frequency in the middle of the sentence if it has only one verb, so that it is positioned after the subject but before the verb.
For example: Tina never dances. She always sings songs.
· Place the adverb of frequency before the main verb if a sentence has more than one verb.
For example: She has often visited London.
· Place the adverb of frequency before the main verb while forming a question or in the negative expression.
For example: Do you usually get up so late?
